Love your songs!! You have a gutsy sound on the lower notes and a lyric quality on the high notes---a very distinctive voice. I also like the way you over-pronounce some words. It's all called "style", and you certainly have it. Do you have any recent pictures of yourself that you would be willing to share with us (or with me)? P.S. I am 74 years old and have sung all my life.

Please, please, please tell us what is meant by "Disco `Round".
Is it Disco Around? Disco Ground? Something else?
This past weekend we gleefully wasted an hour debating this over pina
coladas and sunshine in the pool and anxiously await an answer.

Hi Alicia,
Your "Nightlife Pages" blog (is this what a blog is? Not sure, but I think so) is great! Okay, I'll admit that it's pretty stream-of-consciousness, and some of the time I have no idea what you're talking about -- but I'm really enjoying it all the same! Especially your discussion of classic movies and novels, contrasted with what we're paying for on cable, "Extreme Health Discovery Makeovers" and such. You're making me laugh out loud -- and I'm an English teacher, btw, so not just any old writing can do that....
Take care, and sounds like you have a birthday coming up, so all the best.
Toby (who still listens to "Diamond in the Rough" on vinyl -- I think I always knew, even back then!)

Dear Alicia
I know all about you and if you can sing in a strip joint like the Rebel Lounge in Charlotte you can do anything. You couldn't fool those people. They will know if you are a phoney. If y'are they will send you out the door.
I knew your friend Bobbie Scott Ogle and know all about y'alls really tight friendship. Haven't seen her in a long time though. Tell her Hope said, 'hi'. Do you remember how she started the topless dancing in Charlotte as Barbie Doll?
Well, disco is okay but I like your rockin' music the best because that's the kind of gal I am. You must be a rocker too from the sound of it, eh?
Well your Diamond in the Rough just really gets to me and I know just how that feels. Small town syndrome can be really on hard people who are different. Take it from me, honey cause I've been there and done that.
Anyway, thanks for singin' your heart out for all of us. You may not think we 'get it'...but don't worry too much.....because a lot of us get it Real Good.
Love,
Hope

Hello Alicia,
I've been meaning to write to you for some time now, but have been so busy. I got your CD of Say It Sister and liked it a lot. So then I had to go get your other one called This Girl Don't Care.
First off, I just want to tell you that you've got a great voice. Second...I like the way you use the words in your songs. Most people don't write that way and I kinda' wonder what made you think to write this way? Like when you say ...the stiff booze we made for you. I had to go back and play that a lot of times over and over again. Guess you could say I really do like it a lot. LOL
I want to mention that guitar player on Name of Love can really make that axe talk sassy too. Don't even get me started on the sax man. Blows me away!
Well, I hope you're doing well and people ought to tell you if they like your music. You're one of a kind. Thanks for the sounds, Alicia...they're outta sight.
Your Fan

Hi Alicia, I'm sure you don't recall me. I was part of the duo (Dave and Jim) and I use to be a friend of Clint Nix...what ever happened to him??? I have some old photos of you perhaps I could email them to you if you'd like?
Jim, It is great to hear from you! I wonder what happened to Clint, too. Has anyone out there heard from Clint? Look for an email from me soon. Alicia

Hi Alicia, When I was 7 years old, back in 1978, you mailed me an autographed picture of you. in May 2000 I meant you in PA and in August 2000 I meant you again in NY. You said on the stage in front of everybody that you were going to e-mail me. I was just wondering how you were doing. Please get back to me on where you're going to be next and can you e-mail me a schedule of your public appearances? Thanks. You're the BEST!!!!
Anthony, It is so good to hear from you and I do remember you. Check your inbox soon, as I will send you an email.

Let me start by saying Im a metal head and a guitar player but I love this music and over the years Ive learned that a lot of other metal heads are also disco FANatics you cant not Love this music and at 16 beats per frame as a musicion you have to respect it.Alicia is an icon that I would be proud to put down the metallica and pantera for just a moment to play on stage with just once.No heavy power cords no berratone chugging no shredding to impress the other guitar players.Just playing the music because it make you feel good and you love it.When I think of the 70's and disco Alicia's face is one of the faces I think of.Thanks for makeing my world a better place Alicia
Luv Ya

I wanted to wish you a happy birthday...so, I logged on to the wide wonderful world of the internet. That was probably about two hours ago. I fell into the bottomless pit of Alicia Bridges web sites and now I feel like a zombie. I like zombies, so now I like myself. Happy Birthday Alicia. with love, Susan

Alicia,
Remember all those after hours nights we had the Holiday Inn West in Charlotte?
You may remember, Bob Strack, he worked the 2nd shift I worked 3rd.
We always came to anyplace you performed - Bamboo Lounge when I asked you to sing Please, Please the James Brown hit sent tingles through me!
Are you still with Debbie Lofty - Little Miss Concord?
Before you went to Atlanta, I remember you met Benny and played at the fishcamp near Belmont.
I then moved to Stone Mountain, GA for a short time.
While at a disco in Philadelphia, PA I heard your tune I Love the Nightlife and bought about 50 of them after returning home to Memphis, TN.
I am now living near Manchester, KY - retired with a disability - COPD - way off the beaten path in the Daniel Boone National Forest.
You have done great!
Always Fond Memories,
John

Hi Alicia (or whoever is reading this),
I was just watching VH1 and saw you on there and felt compelled to say that your song I Love The Nite Life has ALWAYS been one of those songs that I never got tired of and will always be in my top 10 song list. Some might call you a one hit wonder BUT that's ONE hit more then most everyone ever had and anyone would love to had your song as a hit. Hell, I even have your extended EP version that I listen to in my car.... In my opinion disco NEVER really died, it was just renamed top 40 and played as such with a slight change of beat. Girl, be proud of yourself.... Your great!
